E-selenium for birds: description, composition, dosage and method of administration

E-selenium compensates for the deficiency of vitamin E and selenium in animals. Vitamin E regulates redox processes and affects carbohydrate-fat metabolism, enhances the effect of vitamins A and D3, affects the state of immunity, the overall resistance of the organism. Selenium greatly contributes to the effectiveness of vitamin E, also plays an important role in metabolic processes.

Prevention and treatment of diseases developing on the background of vitamin E and selenium deficiency in: disorders of reproduction and development of the fetus, white muscle disease, traumatic myositis, cardiopathy, toxic liver dystrophy, growth retardation and insufficient weight gain, infectious and invasive diseases, preventive vaccinations and de-worming, poisoning nitrates, heavy metals and mycotoxins, stressful situations.

Doses and method of use

The drug is administered to all types of animals intramuscularly or subcutaneously (horses only intramuscularly) with a preventive purpose 1 time in 2-4 months, with a medical treatment 1 time in 7-10 days, 2 to 3 times a dose: for adult animals - 1 ml per 50 kg of body weight , young farm animals - 0.2 ml per 10 kg of body weight, dogs, cats, fur-bearing animals - 0.04 ml per 1 kg of body weight. For ease of administration of small volumes of the drug, it can be diluted with sterile water or saline and mix thoroughly. For poultry, the drug is used at a dose of 1 ml / kg of body weight with drinking water at a dilution of 1: 100, for preventive purposes to chickens from the daily age 1 time in 2 to 3 weeks, young animals and adult birds - 1 time per month, with treatment 2 3 times with an interval of 1 - 2 weeks. The therapeutic dose can be increased no more than 1.5 times. The dose to one animal should not exceed: for horses - 20 ml, cows - 15 ml, sheep, goats, pigs - 5 ml.

Selenium preparations in veterinary medicine

By its action, selenium is similar to vitamin E, although the antioxidant proteins contained in selenium are 500 times more active. Total absence or lack of diet vitamin E and selenium leads to growth retardation and the emergence of such dangerous diseases as hepatosis, exudative and hemorrhagic diathesis, white muscle disease and green muscle disease, encephalomalacia, embryonic dystrophy.

Why does selenium and vitamin E “work” together? They reinforce each other's actions. While working with vitamin E, selenium plays the role of an antioxidant: tocopherols intercept peroxide radicals, and the enzymes that contain selenium are destroyed by radicals.

Speaking specifically about diseases, vitamin E and selenium help the pet owner in the following cases:

- delayed weight gain and developmental delay

- violation of reproductive function

- white muscle and green muscle disease, cardiopathy and traumatic myositis

- toxic liver dystrophy

- invasive and infectious diseases

- degelmentizatsii and preparation for vaccination.

Preparations of selenium and vitamin E in veterinary medicine used for cats and dogs, poultry and livestock, fur animals.

For example, in chickens, selenium is maintained at a constant level, stimulating their growth, overall development and productivity. If this non-metal is enough, the need for tocopherol is reduced, so you can prevent muscle dystrophy, exudative diathesis, encephalomalacia, etc. But if selenium in the diet of chickens is not enough, they have a disease resembling hypovitaminosis E.

In addition, selenium regulates the absorption and consumption of vitamins A, E, K, D, a positive effect on the pancreas. In case of dystrophy of this organ, the vitamins are poorly absorbed, even if the bird gets them full. Selenium also has protective functions in case of poisoning of hens with table salt, toxins, heavy metal salts.

With a lack of selenium in the muscles, endocrine and nervous systems, necrosis occurs. Vitamin E deficiency is dangerous for the reproductive function of laying hens, causes high embryonic mortality at the start of egg incubation, and in roosters results in sterility due to testicular damage.

Especially dangerous is the lack of vitamin E for broilers. The bird develops encephalomalacia, hemorrhagic or exudative diathesis, intramuscular subcutaneous swelling of the chest, neck, hemorrhages in the muscles of the legs, under the wings are formed, because of which the broiler meat may become green.

The most famous preparations of selenium are Selenvit-E, E-Selen. and a number of others. Bird preparations are diluted with diluted 1: 1000 with water at a dose of 1 milliliter per kg of body weight, or 2 ml per liter of drunk water. For prophylactic purposes, the daily chickens are given a selenium drug once every two to three weeks, young animals from 30 days of age and an adult bird once a month sufficient. For therapeutic purposes, these drugs are drunk 2-3 times for one to one and a half months.

Small, reusable injections of selenium, three weeks before calving, reduce cases of post-mortem delay in cows by 50%.

Together with vitamin E, selenium enhances the protective functions of the body during infections, and when introduced into the diet (20-50 mg per kg of body weight), it significantly increases the concentration of vitamin A in the liver, prevents the toxic effect of tetracycline.
